Haskins Questions Double Standard in Election Law Dispute

Representative Kirk Haskins raised concerns about selective enforcement after House Elections Committee Chair Pat Proctor called for an investigation into $5 gift cards offered to students registering to vote at two Kansas high schools. According to reporting from Kansas Reflector, Haskins also pointed out that Proctor used state-produced letterhead when posting about the matter on his campaign Facebook page, potentially raising a separate campaign law issue. While Haskins described that as a “minor misstep,” he said the larger issue deserves scrutiny, warning that selective attention and bias “damages public trust in our elected officials and ultimately our democracy.”
